|
Bill joined the firm in 1988 and became a partner in 1995. He concentrates his practice in the areas of professional liability, general liability, and the representation of insurers with regard to coverage issues, insurance fraud and property claims. Bill’s practice has repeatedly earned him peer recognition in Boston Magazine as a “Massachusetts Super Lawyer” in the areas of commercial litigation and personal injury defense. Bill has extensive trial experience and has litigated numerous cases involving matters as varied as a class action under the Federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act, a series of professional liability actions across the United States arising out of the collapse of a prominent workers compensation insurer, numerous fire and explosion cases, construction cases, product liability cases, and numerous cases involving alleged errors and omissions in the placement of general liability insurance, property insurance, life insurance, construction bonds, fidelity bonds, and employee benefit plans. He has also arbitrated and mediated various claims before the American Arbitration Association and other private agencies. In 1996, Bill was appointed National Chairman of a Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on behalf of a Lloyds of London syndicate. In this capacity he has led the insurer's investigation and defense of questionable or fraudulent claims across the United States. He has also served as a speaker for insurance industry seminars on broker/agent E&O and general liability claims, as well as a legal commentator for Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. Bill graduated cum laude from The University of Massachusetts of Amherst in 1983, where he was accepted to the Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society. He received his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1987 and was admitted to the bar that year. Bill belongs to the American Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association. He has been admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals (First Circuit). He has also been admitted pro hac vice in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, and Pennsylvania. |
