Michael has extensive experience in general litigation matters; representing clients in both federal and state courts. A significant portion of his practice involves employment law, and includes providing major corporations with national oversight of their employment litigation. Michael also counsels and defends management and employers on a wide variety of professional and commercial matters. He has also served as trial counsel in cases of product liability, premises liability, construction litigation, environmental, sexual abuse, and other complex litigation. A native of the Midwest, Michael obtained both his Bachelor of Arts and J.D. from Marquette University. During law school, he served as Executive Editor of both the Marquette Law Review and Journal of the National Sports Law Institute. At graduation, he was honored with the Dean's Award for Outstanding Service to the Law School and Profession. Michael remains an active contributor to legal scholarship. He published an article on liability issues in childhood sexual abuse cases in the MBA Civil Litigation Section News. He is a frequent speaker for various insurance trade associations on topics such as sexual abuse, employment law, discovery practice and procedure, and non-profit liability issues. He is also a lecturer for the national Non-Profit Risk Management Institute in Washington, D.C. In 2009, Michael was inducted as a Fellow into the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only national trial lawyer honorary society.
