Douglas L. Fox provides counseling and trial advocacy for the sports and entertainment industry, and counts among his clients some of the premier sports and entertainment franchises in Massachusetts. He has extensive experience defending claims arising out of activities at NFL and MLB events, concerts, triathlons, marathons, hockey rinks, dance clubs, and commercial trucking.

Doug is a graduate of Northeastern University and the University of Miami School of Law. He is admitted to practice in both Massachusetts and Florida. With over 30 years of experience, Doug has tried cases in courts across Massachusetts, and has handled appeals in both the state and federal courts.

Doug represented the prevailing side in two landmark appeals, Costa v. Boston Red Sox, and Jupin v. Kask. Costa was the first case decided in Massachusetts in the modern era which held that the proprietor of a ball park (Fenway Park) does not owe a duty to warn patrons of the risk of injury from bats and balls entering the stands. In Jupin, the Supreme Judicial Court held that a police officer, who was shot with a stolen handgun and in a coma for three years before dying, could maintain an action against a homeowner for negligently allowing the gun owner to store the weapon on her property without adequately securing it against theft.

Doug is the author of a chapter titled Damages, Interest and Attorney's Fees in Massachusetts Litigation, published by the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, and has served on the Board of Editors of the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. He has lectured on personal injury litigation for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, the Massachusetts Bar Association, and the Worcester County Bar Association. He is the recipient of the Worcester County Bar Association's President's Award, as well as numerous awards for his work on behalf of legal services projects for the homeless. Doug is a member of the Worcester County Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Florida Bar, and is a Lifetime Fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation. He is also a past President of the Massachusetts Association for the Blind.
